SECTION 576.210 PROCEDURE AND FORM OF REQUEST


 

Section 576.210  Procedure and Form of Request

 

Requests for public records in the custody of the Attorney General shall be submitted to the Freedom of Information Officer in either the Springfield or Chicago office of the Attorney General or to Assistant Freedom of Information Officers in any regional office of the Attorney General. Requests may be made in writing or orally.  When an oral request is made, the Freedom of Information Officer or Assistant Freedom of Information Officer shall present to the requestor a form request upon which oral request shall be reduced to writing.  Once oral requests have been reduced to writing they shall be treated as written requests for all purposes.  All requests must include the following:

 

a)         the requestor's full name, address, and telephone number;

 

b)         a brief description, as specific as possible, of the public records sought; and

 

c)         an indication whether the request is for inspection of public records, copies of public records, or both.
