In addition to the general
testing requirements of Appendix A, driver education training cars are also
subject to the following requirements.

17.2
|
BRAKES
Vehicles equipped with
automatic transmissions shall be equipped with a dual brake. Vehicles
equipped with standard transmissions shall be equipped with a dual brake and
a dual clutch. ("Dual" means two identical sets of controls – one
operable by the driver and the other by a front seat passenger.)

REJECT VEHICLE IF:

Test dual brake system in
accordance with procedures outlined in Appendix A of these Rules.

Not equipped with a dual
system or dual system is inoperative. Dual brake system does not meet the
standards outlined in Appendix A.

17.3
|
IDENTIFICATION.
The motor vehicle must be
equipped with a sign or signs visible from the front and the rear in letters
no less than 2 inches tall, listing the full name of the driver training
school which has registered and insured the motor vehicle.

17.4
|
EMERGENCY WARNING DEVICES.
Driver Education Training Cars
do not require emergency warning devices.
|

17.5
|
MIRRORS
Effective July 1, 1988, Driver
Education Training Cars require a mirror on each side of the vehicle so
located as to reflect to the driver a view of the highway for a distance of
at least 200 feet to the rear of the vehicle.

|
If a Driver Education Training
Car meets or exceeds the minimum standards outlined in this Part, a
Certificate of Safety must be affixed in the location prescribed in 92 Ill.
Adm. Code 448.100.
