SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

 

Amends Public Act 100-586. Provides that an appropriation from the Road Fund is made to the Illinois Department of Transportation for various purposes in specified Department districts (rather than for a grant to the Chicago Department of Transportation for infrastructure improvements).  Effective immediately.

    AN ACT concerning appropriations.

 

        Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

 

    Section 5. “An Act making appropriations”, Public Act 100-586, approved June 4, 2018, is amended by changing Section 105 of Article 144 as follows:

 

  (P.A. 100-586, Art. 144, Sec. 105)

  Sec. 105. The sum of $180,000,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated from the Road Fund to the Department of Transportation for preliminary engineering and construction engineering and contract costs of construction, including reconstruction, extension and improvement of State highways, arterial highways, roads, access areas, roadside shelters, rest areas, fringe parking facilities, and sanitary facilities and such other purposes as provided by the Illinois Highway Code; for purposes allowed or required by Title 23 of the U.S. Code; for bikeways as provided by Public Act 78-850; for land acquisition and signboard removal and control, junkyard removal and control, and preservation of natural beauty; and for capital improvements that directly facilitate an effective vehicle weight enforcement program, such as scales (fixed and portable), scale pits and scale installations and scale houses, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations for the Improvement Program as approximated below:

  District 5, Paris ...........................  23,400,000

  District 6, Springfield...................... 41,400,000

  District 7, Effingham........................ 27,000,000

  District 8, Collinsville...................... 57,600,000

  District 9, Carbondale ....................... 30,600,000

    Total..................................... $180,000,000

a grant to the Chicago Department of Transportation for infrastructure improvements.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
