1    AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Department of Agriculture Law of the Civil
5Administrative Code of Illinois is amended by changing Section
6205-15 as follows:
 
7    (20 ILCS 205/205-15)  (was 20 ILCS 205/40.7 and 205/40.8)
8    Sec. 205-15. Promotional activities.
9    (a) The Department has the power to encourage and promote,
10in every practicable manner, the interests of agriculture,
11including horticulture, the livestock industry, dairying,
12cheese making, poultry, bee keeping, forestry, the production
13of wool, and all other allied industries. In furtherance of the
14duties set forth in this Section, the Department may establish
15trust funds and bank accounts in adequately protected financial
16institutions to receive and disburse monies in connection with
17the conduct of food shows, food expositions, trade shows, and
18other promotional activities and to sell at cost, to qualified
19applicants, signs designating farms that have been owned for
20100 years or more, 150 years or more, or 200 years or more by
21lineal or collateral descendants of the same family as
22"Centennial Farms", "Sesquicentennial Farms", or "Bicentennial
23Farms" respectively. The Department shall provide applications

1for the signs, which shall be submitted with the required fee.
2"Centennial Farms", "Sesquicentennial Farms", and
3"Bicentennial Farms" signs shall not contain within their
4design the name, picture, or other likeness of any elected
5public official or any appointed public official.
6    (b) The Department has the power to promote improved
7methods of conducting the several industries described in
8subsection (a) with a view to increasing the production and
9facilitating the distribution thereof at the least cost.
10    (c) The Department may sell at cost, to qualified
11applicants, signs designating an agribusiness that has been
12operated for 100 years or more or more than 150 years or more
13as the same agribusiness. As used in this subsection (c),
14"agribusiness" means a business or businesses under the same
15name or ownership that are collectively associated with the
16production, processing, or and distribution of agricultural
17products, or an organization that promotes the economic
18well-being and expansion of this State's agriculture industry.
19The Department shall provide applications for the signs, which
20shall be submitted with the required fee.

23    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
24becoming law.
