SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 40/15.5 new

    Amends the Illinois Employment First Act. Requires State agencies to study the benefits for individuals with disabilities who utilize the ABLE account program to maximize their employment opportunities. Provides that no later than 90 days after the effective date of this amendatory Act, each State agency shall issue a report of findings and recommendations to the General Assembly.

1    AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Employment First Act is amended by
5adding Section 15.5 as follows:
 
6    (20 ILCS 40/15.5 new)
7    Sec. 15.5. ABLE accounts. The Department of Human Services
8and the Department of Healthcare and Family Services, along
9with all applicable State agencies, shall study the benefits
10for individuals with disabilities, including developmental
11disabilities, who utilize the ABLE account program, as provided
12under Section 16.6 of the State Treasurer Act, to maximize
13their employment opportunities, including the ability of such
14individuals to work more hours each week at their discretion.
15No later than 90 days after the effective date of this
16amendatory Act of the 100th General Assembly, each State agency
17shall issue a report of findings to the General Assembly,
18including recommendations on increasing awareness of the ABLE
19account program for individuals with disabilities in the
20workforce.
