SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois General Assembly are
3saddened to learn of the death of Thomas Cellini, who passed
4away on June 9, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Thomas Cellini was born on May 30, 1939 in Chicago
6Heights; his parents were Paul and Maria Cellini; and
 
7    WHEREAS, At the age of 16, Thomas Cellini started showing
8interest in auto repair, which led him to start a business in
91956; the business was made into a corporation in 1960; he was
10also the proprietor for Broadway Auto in South Chicago Heights
11from 1970 to 2013 and served his community for many years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, In 1986, Thomas Cellini started showing signs of
13Huntington's disease, a degenerative brain disorder that
14causes spontaneous body movements and eventually diminishes
15one's ability to walk, talk, think, and reason; in 2005, he and
16his wife started The Thomas Cellini Huntington's Foundation to
17help those with Huntington's disease and their families; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Thomas Cellini was the loving husband of Barbara
19Embry, whom he married on June 23, 1959; the father of five
20children; the grandfather of 13; the great-grandfather of two;
21and the brother of Paul Cellini, late baby Betty Jean, and baby

1Tommy Cellini; therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
4CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the portion of East End
5Avenue between the intersections of 26th Street and East End
6Avenue and Sauk Trail and East End Avenue in South Chicago
7Heights as "Honorary Thomas Cellini Way"; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
9is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with
10State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs
11giving notice of the name of "Honorary Thomas Cellini Way"; and
12be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
14delivered to the family of Thomas Cellini and the Secretary of
15the Illinois Department of Transportation.
