SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Chris R. Stevens of Evanston, who passed
4away on December 28, 2016,, at the age of 67; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Chris Stevens was born in Evanston; she attended
6elementary school at Faith, Hope and Charity in Winnetka and
7the School of St. Mary in Lake Forest; she graduated from Lake
8Forest High School in 1967 and Barat College in 1971 with a
9degree in sociology; she spent her junior year of high school
10in South Korea, where she was a cheerleader for EASCOM and
11developed many lifelong friendships; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Chris Stevens began a long career with Lake County
13CETA/Private Industry Council, leading to her role as Director
14for Job Placement & Training; she volunteered with United Way
15of Lake County, including as Treasurer; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Chris Stevens enjoyed cooking for her colleagues,
17friends, and family; she enjoyed gardening and spending summers
18boating on Lake Michigan; she also liked to scuba dive and fish
19in the Florida Keys, where one of her prize catches was a 54
20inch 45 pound barracuda; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Chris Stevens was the beloved wife of over 43

1years of Scott Stevens; the cherished mother of Paul (Tara)
2Stevens; the fond grandmother of Jake and Parker Stevens; the
3loving sister of Debbie and Diane Reitz; the cherished daughter
4of the late Paul and Madelyn Reitz; the special daughter-in-law
5of Bev and the late John Stevens; the loved sister-in-law of
6Peggy Hendershot, Mike Stevens, Lyn (Curt) Drathring, and Ole
7(Sonya) Stevens; and the fond aunt of many nieces and nephews;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Chris R. Stevens, and extend our sincere condolences to her
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Chris Stevens as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
