SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Margaret N. Royal of Girard, who passed
4away on February 24, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Margaret Royal was born in Newton, Mississippi to
6Willis and Virginia (Brantley) Norman on June 1, 1924; she
7married Lyle W. Royal in Pascagoula, Mississippi on March 6,
81943; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Margaret Royal retired from Cahokia School
10District #187, where she was a secretary at Cahokia High
11School; she and her husband formerly owned and operated the
12Royal Highway Service Station and the Royal Treat in Cahokia;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, Margaret Royal enjoyed traveling, gardening, and
15reading; she and her husband were members of Maplewood Park
16Baptist Church in Cahokia, and then Grace Southern Baptist
17Church in Virden; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Margaret Royal was preceded in death by her
19parents; her husband, Lyle; and her siblings, Katherine Dunagin
20Steele, Marion Norman, and Sybil Mandle; and

1    WHEREAS, Margaret Royal is survived by her daughters,
2Elaine (Robert) Harrell, and Cecilia (Douglas) Pitchford; her
3grandchildren, Rebecca (Jeff) Caldwell, Cynthia (Brandon)
4Shafer, Erick Pitchford (Christine Bradley), and Tyler (Janna)
5Pitchford; her great-grandchildren, Ethan and Avery Caldwell,
6Corban, Eliana, Jude, and Gabriella Shafer, Lucas Pitchford,
7and Maddy, Meredith, and Ben Pitchford; and her sister-in-law,
8Dorothy Norman; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Margaret N. Royal, and extend our sincere condolences to her
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Margaret Royal as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
