SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Roger Bernard Hilton Sr., who passed away
4on April 30, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Roger Hilton was born to Burnis Hylton and Millie
6Belle Driscoll on December 22, 1934 and married Shirley Ann
7Holton on September 26, 1953; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Roger Hilton was active in numerous Masonic houses
9within Lake County; he joined Rufus Mitchell Lodge #107 PHA in
101976, in which he held several positions enroute to become the
11Worshipful Master and later a Past Master of the lodge; he
12joined Shawall Temple #165 Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles
13of the Mystic Shrine (A.A.O.N.M.S.) in 1976 and was an Honorary
14Past Potentate and a Honorary Past Imperial Potentate; he was a
15member of Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry
16PHA, North Shore Consistory #91 where he received the 33rd
17Grand Inspector General degree (the highest degree that one can
18attain as a Prince Hall Mason); he was also a Past Worthy
19Patron of Emblem Chapter 140 Order of Eastern Stars PHA, and
20Past Master Hilton; he was known throughout the various houses
21and held many different positions which exemplified his
22character as mason; and

1    WHEREAS, Roger Hilton was preceded in death by loving wife,
2Shirley; his parents; his daughter, Bernadine Hilton; his
3grandson, William Usher; his brother, Warren Hylton; his
4sister, Beverly Smith; and his devoted friend, Betty Carol
5Foxie-McKenzie; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Roger Hilton is survived by his children, Deborah
7(Willie) Hilton-Davis, Gail Hilton, and Roger Bernard
8(Reneaka) Hilton Jr.; seven grandchildren; eight
9great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; his
10sisters, Viola Reese-Johnson, Barbara Dickens, and Gayle
11Hunter; and his devoted friends, Sherman McKenzie, Mary James,
12Curtis Morris Sr., and Junior and Faye White; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Roger Bernard Hilton Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to
16his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Roger Hilton as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
