SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Helen "Jean" McPartlin, who passed away
4on May 8, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Helen McPartlin was born in Joliet to Floyd and
6Helen Garrett on June 5, 1926 and grew up in Ingalls Park; she
7graduated from Joliet Township High School in 1944 and resided
8in the Cherry Hill subdivision for 57 years; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Helen McPartlin was happy to be a homemaker and
10stay at home mom, though she was rarely at home; she was the
11taxi driver for all the kids' activities and a Scout Leader for
1217 years; she was an "official bleacher sitter" for her kids
13and grandkids sports and loved taking them skating and
14sledding; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Helen McPartlin loved hosting celebrations and
16was never happier than when surrounded by family and friends;
17she was affectionately known as "Grandma Mac" and "GG"; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Helen McPartlin was a great cook; she loved to
19make bread, bake pies, and create holiday chocolate candies, a
20McPartlin family tradition; she played tennis into her mid 70s,
21and loved her flowers and vegetable garden, canning and

1freezing the bounty; she played pinochle with the card club
2from high school and spent Sunday nights with the family; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Helen McPartlin was a member of the Council of
4Catholic Women at St. Jude's Church in New Lenox and was an
5active parish member; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Helen McPartlin was preceded in death by her
7husband, Art; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Helen McPartlin is survived by her children, Ken
9(Julie), Penny (Dave) Newkirk, Dennis (Marlene), Brian
10(Kathy), Tim (Amie), Tom (Dean), and Tina; her grandchildren,
11Richard (Stephanie) McPartlin, Happy (Brad) Nacht, Bradley
12(Cara) Newkirk, Randal (Amy) Newkirk, Craig (Lana) McPartlin,
13Todd (Isabel) McPartlin, Alicia (Greg) Gonda, Amber (Nick)
14Meyer, Marissa (Rogelio) Alvarado, Chelsea McPartlin, Kim
15(Dylan) Carr, Richard Boisclair, Andrew (Natasha) McPartlin,
16Tracey (Rich) Zaleski, Ian (Christine) McPartlin, Matthew
17(Jamie) McPartlin, and Daniel (Sue) McPartlin; and her 29
18great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
21Helen "Jean" McPartlin, and extend our sincere condolences to
22her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
