SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Thaddeus "Ted" V. Killian of Waukegan,
4who passed away on June 9, 2017 at the age of 94; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Thaddeus Killian was born in North Chicago to John
6and Mary Killian in 1922; he was a member of the Civilian
7Conservation Corps and served in the United States Army during
8World War II; he married Rose Valencic in Waukegan at Mother of
9God Church in 1947; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Thaddeus Killian began his career with Johns
11Manville; he then worked for the United States Steel
12Corporation until his retirement in 1979; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Thaddeus Killian was an active member of the
14American-Croatian Waukegan Tamburitzans, the United
15Steelworkers, and Queen of Peace Catholic Church; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Thaddeus Killian was a dedicated and hard working
17husband, father, grandfather, great-grandpa, uncle, and
18brother; he spent his entire life living independently; he
19especially enjoyed dancing, listening to music, golfing,
20working on home improvement, woodworking projects, and
21spending time with family; and

1    WHEREAS, Thaddeus Killian especially appreciated the
2loving care of his family, the Haroian family, and his
3caregivers, Linda Ridley and Betty Wiley; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Thaddeus Killian was preceded in death by his
5parents; his wife of almost 60 years, Rose; his son-in-law,
6Dennis Cobb; his siblings, Steffie (Al) Swirski, Frank (Mary)
7Killian, John Killian, Lillian (Lester) Curry, and Chester
8(Zenia) Killian; his niece, Kathy Kudra; and his nephew, Kevin
9Killian; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Thaddeus Killian is survived by his children, Ted
11(Gerrine) Killian and Diane Cobb; his grandchildren, Danielle
12Killian, Michael Killian, Jaime (Kris Sturgell) Rukstales,
13Julie Hughes, Jennifer (Rick) Bentley, and Bryan (Nicole) Cobb;
14his great-grandchildren, Charlie Hughes, Alysen Cobb, and
15baby-to-be, Bentley; his brothers, Walter Killian and Leo
16(Dolores) Killian; his sister-in-law, Helen Killian; and many
17nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Thaddeus "Ted" V. Killian, and extend our sincere condolences
21to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
22it further

3our deepest sympathy.
