SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dorothy Constance "Connie" Schofield of
4Lake Barrington Shores, who passed away on July 6, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dorothy Schofield was born in Pittsburgh,
6Pennsylvania to James and Dorothy Henry on March 24, 1936; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dorothy Schofield ran for Village of Lake
8Barrington trustee as a "55-year-old housewife"; she later
9served as village president, a village trustee, and board
10member of governmental district and community service
11organizations; she served as a Lake Barrington trustee from
121991 to 1997 and then as village president from 1997 through
132005; during her tenure as village president, she served on the
14board of the Barrington Area Council of Governments, serving as
15chairperson from 1999 to 2000; in addition, she was a director
16of the board of the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County during
17the 1990s and was named chair of the 40-member board from 1999
18to 2004; she came out of retirement in 2005 to join the board
19for Barrington Area Council on Aging; in April of 2009, she
20rejoined Lake Barrington's village board as a trustee, and in
21total served her community tirelessly for more than 20 years
22before officially retiring in August of 2016; and

1    WHEREAS, Dorothy Schofield has served on various
2committees and was known for her very popular donation to
3BACOA's annual wine tasting auction - 12 dozen homemade
4Christmas cookies; she was a longtime member of Saint Mary of
5the Annunciation Church in Mundelein, where she served as a
6coordinator of Eucharistic Ministers for many years; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dorothy Schofield was preceded in death by her
8parents and her sister, Shirley (Ted) Malone; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dorothy Schofield is survived by her husband of
10over 60 years, Thomas E. Schofield Sr.; her children, Kimberley
11Burns (Pat), Maureen Denison, Jeanne Worden (Scott), and Tom
12(Michelle); her grandchildren, Mark, Katie, Kevin, Allison
13(Brad), Kala, Kyle, Tommy, Caroline, Grace, Lauren, Patrick,
14Nicholas, Annabelle, Elise, and Michael; her
15great-grandchildren, Kendyl and Jackson; her sisters, Mary Lou
16(Chuck) Hrach and Suzanne (Austin) Tighe; and many nieces and
17nephews; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Dorothy Constance "Connie" Schofield, and extend our sincere
21condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
22her; and be it further
