SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Chicago Police Department Captain James
4Alan LaVoy, of Mt. Greenwood, who passed away on August 13,
52017; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Captain LaVoy joined the Chicago Police
7Department over 25 years ago; he served the Fifth District
8(Calumet) and worked in the Chicago Police Department's crisis
9intervention training programs and helped with programs at the
10Chicago Police Academy; previously, he worked as a lieutenant
11in the 22nd District (Morgan Park); and
 
12    WHEREAS, Captain LaVoy was an inspiration to his
13colleagues; he was a role model and leader who valued public
14service and the community; he defended the defenseless and
15ensured the safety of the people of Chicago; during his career,
16he earned 65 awards, commendations, ribbons, and honorable
17mentions; he was steadfast and true to the oath he took as a
18Chicago police officer; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Captain LaVoy was the beloved husband of Kimberly
20(Jabczynski) LaVoy; the devoted father of Jessica and Alex; the
21loving son of June and George Wright; the dearest brother of
22the late Thomas Simunjak; the proud uncle of Brooke, Emily,

1Kayla, Danielle, Ashley, and Andy; the great uncle of Landon,
2MacKenzie, and Kai; the fond brother-in-law of Dennis (Julie)
3Jabczynski; he was loved by many other family members,
4co-workers, and friends; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Captain James Alan LaVoy, and extend our sincere condolences to
8his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Captain LaVoy as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
