SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of William "Bill" Merritt Morefield of
4Woodstock, who passed away on August 19, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, William Morefield was born in Chicago to Clarence
6O. and Dorothy J. (Merritt) Morefield on July 7, 1937; he
7graduated from Monmouth High School in 1956; he was a Licensed
8Practical Nurse and also a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, William Morefield moved his family to Woodstock
11when he was hired as the administrator for Valley Hi Nursing
12Home in McHenry County; he held this position proudly for 17
13years; he was then promoted to the first county administrator
14for McHenry County; he served in this position for seven years,
15until his retirement; upon retirement, he worked as a marketing
16consultant with Legat Architects of Waukegan for 13 years; and
 
17    WHEREAS, William Morefield was an avid fisherman and
18enjoyed golfing and bowling; more than anything, he enjoyed
19attending the various activities of his grandchildren, which
20included baseball, softball, band and choir concerts, and
21plays; he was also a supporter of his grandson's band and
22attended hundreds of shows throughout the country; and

1    WHEREAS, William Morefield was preceded in death by his
2parents; and
 
3    WHEREAS, William Morefield is survived by his wife Judy
4(Weeks) Morefield; his children, Kathryn Blanks, Cindy (Allan)
5Thomson, and Derik Morefield; his grandchildren, Christian and
6Thaddeus Blanks, Amber Thomson, and John and Kelsi Morefield;
7his brother, Gary (Linda) Morefield; his sister, Judy (Denny)
8Garkey; his brother-in-law, Larry (Joann) Weeks; and several
9nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12William "Bill" Merritt Morefield, and extend our sincere
13condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
14him; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of William Morefield as an expression
17of our deepest sympathy.
