SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lisa Ann LaForge, who passed away on June
429, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lisa LaForge spent her career as a social worker,
6and she was committed to helping the clients of the Family
7Service Association of Greater Elgin, where she was the
8Executive Director; she worked tirelessly with the Board, the
9leadership team of the association, and staff to improve the
10lives of many; and
 
11    WHEREAS, One of Lisa LaForge's crowning achievements was
12the instrumental role she played in starting the Screening,
13Assessment, and Support Services Program in the State of
14Illinois; she was the leader that brought the program to Family
15Service Association; she worked together with Illinois
16officials for many years to bring together a crisis system that
17was, and still is, responsive to youth experiencing significant
18mental health distress; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Lisa LaForge also played a substantial role in the
20Mental Health Juvenile Justice Program; she worked together
21with local courts, the juvenile detention center, and probation
22departments to create a work flow that allowed for youth to

1receive community based services prior to their release from
2the detention center; she was a pioneer, and she won the Elgin
3Image Award for her outstanding work in advocacy while also
4running a highly reputable, financially solvent organization
5that responds to community needs; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Lisa LaForge was a good friend, mentor and
7colleague to many; she was a dedicated daughter, sister, and
8aunt; she was fun and funny, regaling all with a wicked sense
9of humor and an infectious laugh; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Lisa LaForge is survived by her parents, Peter and
11Peggy LaForge; her brothers, Philip (Patricia) and Steven
12(Julie); her nieces and nephews, Peter, Claire, Jonathan, and
13Lorisa; and many cousins; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Lisa Ann LaForge and extend our sincere condolences to her
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Lisa LaForge as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
