SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Larry Gene Hazen of Godfrey, who passed
4away on October 2, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Larry Hazen was born in Alton to Albert and
6Carmella (Panapinto) Hazen on December 21, 1945; he served in
7the United States Air Force and married Jeanette Gobble in
8Alton on August 16, 1974; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Larry Hazen retired from Roberts Ford in 2005
10after 29 years as a mechanic and service writer; he was a
11member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary for over 10
12years and a volunteer fireman for Godfrey for 13 years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Larry Hazen was a long-standing member of the
14Alton Motor Boat Club, where he served as treasurer for several
15years; he was active with the MS 150 Bike Ride and rode with
16the Piasa Peddlers Group, which raised over $20,000; he
17volunteered at Rolling Hills Golf Course for many years, loved
18to travel with his grandchildren, and enjoyed his winter months
19in Arizona; he was a member St. Ambrose Catholic Church in
20Godfrey; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Larry Hazen was preceded in death by his parents

1and an infant brother, Albert Hazen Jr.; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Larry Hazen is survived by his wife, Jeanette; his
3daughter, Shannon (Jeff) Lauritzen; his grandchildren,
4Karoline and Kristine Lauritzen; his brother, Harry (Susy)
5Hazen; his niece, Yvonne (Cliff) Rushton; and his nephew,
6Albert (Cindy) Hazen; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Larry Gene Hazen, and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Larry Hazen as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
