SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Frederic J. Woldt, who passed away on
4November 12, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Fred Woldt was born in Gary, Indiana on August 8,
61932; he grew up in Waukegan; he graduated from Waukegan High
7School and Valparaiso University, after which he served in the
8United States Navy; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Fred Woldt retired from the Waukegan (now Lake
10County) News-Sun, where he had a long career; he was a
11respected writer and editor who mentored younger generations of
12journalists; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Fred Woldt was an active administrator of the F.
14Ward Just Scholarship Foundation, which provides financial
15assistance to students from Lake County interested in studying
16journalism; he served on the Waukegan Public Library Board; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Fred Woldt was known for his wry sense of humor
18and interest in literature, music, sports, and current events;
19he was an avid chef and lover of good food; he passed his love
20of words and writing to his children; and

1    WHEREAS, Fred Woldt is survived by his wife of 64 years,
2Mary; his sons, Jeffrey (Miranda) and Christopher (Gina
3Galluppi); and his daughter, Stacy (Sue Ehemann); therefore, be
4it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Frederic J. Wold and extend our sincere condolences to his
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Fred Woldt as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
