SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Elizabeth "Betty" Morrissey of North
4Chicago, who passed away on November 19, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Betty Morrissey was born to Gustave and Elodie Van
6Laeke on May 9, 1920; she married Edward Morrissey on June 15,
71940; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Betty Morrissey was employed at Nosco, and during
9World War II, she worked at Fansteel and Abbott Laboratories;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, Betty Morrissey was a member of Holy Family Church
12in North Chicago and Most Blessed Trinity; she was also a
13member of the Catholic Women's Club and Foss Park Ladies Golf
14League; she was an avid golfer, bowler, and bridge and pinochle
15player; she volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the St. Therese
16Hospital Gift Shop; she enjoyed reading and as long as she had
17a good book, was never bored; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Betty Morrissey was preceded in death by her
19husband, Edward; her son, Robert Morrissey; her brothers,
20William (Ada) Van Laeke, Ray (Tina) Van Laeke, Leo (Pauline)
21Van Laeke, Carmen (Annette) Van Laeke, and Henry (Christine)

1Van Laeke; and her sisters, Madeline and Marie De Groote and
2Eleanor (Frank) Skvarce; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Betty Morrissey is survived by her son, Edward
4(Mary Alice) Morrissey Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Mary Alice
5Morrissey; her grandchildren, Lynn Morrissey (Joe Salvatore),
6Maureen Morrissey, Lori (Bruce) Brugioni, Daniel (Sandra)
7Morrissey, Robert (Adelah) Morrissey, Karen (Brad) Totten, and
8Kristin (Matthew) Graham; her great-grandchildren, Ryan (Sara)
9Brugioni, Matthew Brugioni, Madison (Ryan) Romig, Casey
10Totten, Payton Totten, Chloe Morrissey, Daniel Morrissey,
11Marianna Morrissey, Matthew Graham, and Marcus Graham; and her
12great-great-grandchildren, Brantley Romig and Easton Brugioni;
13therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Elizabeth "Betty" Morrissey and extend our sincere condolences
17to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
18it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Betty Morrissey as an expression of
21our deepest sympathy.
