SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of R. "Wayne" Slone of Elmwood, who passed
4away on December 26, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Wayne Slone was born in Fulton County to Clyde and
6Marjorie (Baty) Slone on July 29, 1935; he married M. Diane
7Butterfield at the First Presbyterian Church in Elmwood; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Wayne Slone was a fighter pilot who served in the
9Air Force and Air National Guard from 1955 until 1975; he
10retired as a Lieutenant Colonel and Squadron Commander of the
11169th Guard United in Peoria; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Wayne Slone joined CILCO as an apprentice lineman
13in 1958; he held various positions related to sales and
14operations until he was appointed commercial activities
15manager in 1974; he was the manager of rates and regulatory
16affairs, Vice President, Senior Vice President, and President
17and CEO during his 37 years of service; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Wayne Slone was a director of the Edison Electric
19Institute, the Heartland Partnership, and the Agriculture
20Research and Development Corporation; he served as a past board
21member and chairman of the Proctor Hospital Board; he also

1served as a director of University Bank and Jefferson Bank of
2Peoria; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Wayne Slone was preceded in death by his wife,
4Diane; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Wayne Slone is survived by his daughter, Pamela
6(David) Serdar; his son, Mark Slone; his grandchildren, Adam
7Serdar and Brenna (Jesse) Danko; his great-granddaughter,
8Mackenzie Danko and his special friend, Trudy Cline; therefore,
9be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12R. "Wayne" Slone and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Wayne Slone as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
