SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gregory B. "Greg" Bott of Plainfield, who
4passed away on January 7, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Greg Bott was born in Alton to Luriel
6(Stublefield) and Eugene Bott on March 13, 1956 and grew up in
7Brighton; he graduated from Piasa High School in 1974 and
8earned degrees in parks and recreation and education from North
9Central College in Naperville in 1978; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Greg Bott began his career with the Naperville
11Park District in a maintenance position; in 1981, he joined the
12Plainfield Park District in the same capacity; he worked his
13way up to become executive director in 1985 and served until
14his retirement in May 2013; he always believed in the role that
15parks and recreation played in the overall well-being of a
16community; and
 
17    WHEREAS, In 2013, the Plainfield Park District renamed
18River Edge Park as the "Gregory B. Bott Park" in honor of Greg
19Bott; in 2016, Renwick Community Park was renamed as "Gregory
20B. Bott Community Park" in honor of his 32 years of service
21with the Plainfield Park District; and

1    WHEREAS, Greg Bott was a member of the Plainfield Lions
2Club and attended Plainfield United Methodist Church and Three
3Rivers Church; he was an avid hunter, fisherman, and
4outdoorsman; he enjoyed trap shooting, gardening, playing
5poker, and spending time at his cabin in Hayward, Wisconsin,
6which he called his "life's dream"; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Greg Bott was the beloved fiance of Misty
8Bartlett; the loving father of Bryan and Austin Bott; the
9loving stepfather of Nina and Nathan Bartlett; the devoted son
10of Luriel (Stublefield) and the late Eugene Bott; the dear
11brother of Bob (Bev) Bott, Kathy (the late Rocco Goins) Bott,
12Mary Jane Bott, and the late John (Sheila) Bott; and the fond
13nephew, cousin, uncle, great-uncle, and friend of many,
14including Mindy Gerrietts; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Gregory B. "Greg" Bott, and extend our sincere condolences to
18his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Greg Bott as an expression of our
22deepest sympathy.
