SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John T. "Jack" Tierney, who passed away
4on January 10, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jack Tierney graduated from St. Ignatius High
6School and attended Lewis College before joining the United
7States Marine Corps and serving during the Korean War; he
8married Beverly Basso; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Jack Tierney was a longtime worker for the City of
10Chicago in Public Works as a hoisting engineer; he was a member
11of International Union Of Operating Engineers Local 150; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Jack Tierney was a loyal member of the Knights of
13Columbus; he Loved Tuesday lunch "with the boys" at Doc Ryan's;
14and
 
15    WHEREAS, Love found Jack Tierney a second time through his
16long-time partner, Christine Costanzo; he "adopted" her family
17with love and care: sister, Donna Pazzelli, sister-in-law,
18Carole Wiegel, and Matthew and Melissa Wiegel; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Jack Tierney was preceded in death by his wife,
20Beverly; and

1    WHEREAS, Jack Tierney was the son of the late Joseph and
2Irene Tierney; brother to siblings Joseph (Jeanne), the late
3Raymond (Irene), Irene (Bob) McArdle, and Marian (Jim)
4Stockwell; proud father of John F. (Cheri), Michael (Kathy),
5Marilyn (Bill) Haugh, Patti (Chuck) Addesso, and Brian
6(Kathleen); grandfather of Colleen (Matt) Scarola, Michael
7John (Stephanie), Kevin (Shelby), Caitlin (Mathias) DeLacey,
8Shannon (Marty) Teresi, Sean (Laurel), Claire, Jackie Addesso,
9and Michael (Debby) Robertson; great-grandfather to Benjamin,
10Olivia, Micaela, Reagan, Oliver, Lydia, Madelyn, Nora, Drew,
11and Dylan; fond brother-in-law of Joseph (Jeanne) Basso, John
12(Sharon) Basso, and the late Carl (Sylvia) Plumery; he was a
13devoted uncle and great-uncle to many; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16John T. "Jack" Tierney, and extend our sincere condolences to
17his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Jack Tierney as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
