SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert Leigh "Bob" Switzer of Johnsburg,
4who passed away on December 29, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Switzer was born in Chicago to Russell and D.
6Roma (Schladorn) Switzer on January 8, 1932; his family moved
7to McHenry in 1947 and he graduated from McHenry East High
8School in 1950; he served in the U.S. Naval Reserve in the
91950s and married Carol Arvidson in Crystal Lake on September
1015, 1956; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Bob Switzer was well known in the marine industry
12for manufacturing, promoting, and racing boats for the Switzer
13Craft Boat Company; his racing successes included three
14national outboard racing championships and winner of the Albany
15to New York marathon in 1953; he loved to share stories with
16friends and families about how he overcame obstacles to win
17races; after the business was sold in 1982, he continued to
18manage the property and transformed it into a successful retail
19space; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Bob Switzer was a loving husband, father,
21grandfather, and great-grandfather and brought wisdom and fun
22into everyday experiences; he parlayed his love of boating and

1racing into his family experiences with frequent trips to Lake
2Cumberland, Kentucky and regular boating excursions on the
3Chain of Lakes waterway; he also enjoyed snowmobiling and
4belonged to a local motorcycle club; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Switzer is survived by his wife of 61 years,
6Carol; his children, Nancy (Steven) Kasprzyk, Tracy (Cari)
7Switzer, Steven (Jami) Switzer, and Peter (Cushie) Switzer; 12
8grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his brother, David
9(Marilyn) Switzer; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Robert Leigh "Bob" Switzer, and extend our sincere condolences
13to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
14it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Bob Switzer as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
