SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Leonard Doyle of Champaign, who passed
4away on January 25, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Leonard Doyle was born near Ivesdale to Margaret
6and Frank Boyle on November 13, 1928; at four weeks of age,
7after the death of his mother, he was adopted by his uncle and
8aunt, Mike and Julia Doyle; he married Loretto B. O'Connor at
9St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Ivesdale on October 18, 1952; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Leonard Doyle worked at the Assembly Hall for 43
11years and at Owens Funeral Home for over 20 years; he retired
12from Eisner-Jewel after 32 years of service and 17 years with
13the MTD; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Leonard Doyle's community involvement included 67
15years at the Virginia Theatre; he was the co-founder of the
16Champaign Urbana Theatre Company (CUTC); for 65 years, he held
17numerous positions in the local and state councils of the
18Knights of Columbus and Squires; he was actively involved in
19the Champaign-Urbana Freedom Celebration for over 50 years; he
20also served as a Eucharistic Minister for Holy Cross Catholic
21Church for over 40 years; due to his love of people, he was
22never without a community project; and

1    WHEREAS, Leonard Doyle was preceded in death by his wife;
2his parents; his sister; and one of his great-grandchhildren;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, Leonard Doyle is survived by his daughters,
5Margaret Doyle, Mary (John) Bartko, Brenda Hyre, Linda (Ken)
6Knox, and Barbara (Mike) Wallace; his 12 grandchildren; his 18
7great-grandchildren; his three nieces; and his two nephews;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Leonard Doyle and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
12friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Leonard Doyle as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
