SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of George A. Lechner of McHenry, formerly of
4Palatine, who passed away on January 20, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, George Lechner was born in Chicago to George A.
6and Irma (Ille) Lechner on July 15, 1938; he graduated from
7Maine Township High School East in 1956; he married Carol
8Baumer in Glenview on April 19, 1958; and
 
9    WHEREAS, George Lechner first worked as a printer for the
10General Telephone Directory; he joined the Des Plaines Fire
11Department in 1968; during his 20-year career, he attained the
12rank of Deputy Chief; he remained active in the field of fire
13service and worked in the Arlington Heights Emergency
14Management Department for seven years; he also worked for the
15office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal for eight years and
16was the Y2K Civilian Project Manager for Northwest Community
17Hospital in Arlington Heights in 1999 and early 2000; and
 
18    WHEREAS, George Lechner was awarded honorary membership in
19the Fire Investigators Strike Force; he also served as a
20Trustee for the Palatine Rural Fire Protection District and was
21a member of the Illinois Professional Firefighters
22Association; and

1    WHEREAS, George Lechner was a member of and deacon at
2Lakeland Baptist Church in Lake Villa; he raised pigeons from
3the time he was seven years old and was a lifetime member of
4the American Giant Homer Association; in addition to holding
5many positions in that club, he was also recognized as a
6"Master Breeder"; and
 
7    WHEREAS, George Lechner was preceded in death by his
8parents; and his grandson, Michael Shane Lechner; and
 
9    WHEREAS, George Lechner is survived by his wife of 59
10years, Carol; his children, Pamela Lechner, Michael (Suzan)
11Lechner, and Dawn (Timothy) Andrlik; his grandchildren,
12Stephanie (Anthony) Nelson, Ashley (Kevin) Jensen, and Payton
13Andrlik; his great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Travis Nelson,
14and Andrew, Chloe, Elana, and Joy Jensen; his brother, Donald
15(Joan) Lechner; and his nephews, Jeffrey, Andrew (Michele),
16Gary (Laura) Lechner and their families; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19George A. Lechner and extend our sincere condolences to his
20family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
