SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Craig Raymond Stettner of Des Plaines,
4who passed away on December 25, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Craig Stettner was born to Ray and Judy Stettner
6on October 14, 1965; he graduated from Maine West and then
7attended Purdue University, Ball State, and Iowa State; he
8earned degrees in aquatic science, biology, ecology, and
9education; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Craig Stettner joined the faculty at Harper
11College in Palatine in 2002; he ran a popular study abroad
12program in Costa Rica and inspired countless students to reach
13their full potential; he was dedicated to sharing his passion
14for conservation and the environment; for many years, he worked
15with Harper students and volunteers from the community to help
16restore the ecosystem in the Spring Creek Forest Preserve in
17Barrington; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Craig Stettner was an avid bird watcher and board
19member of the Chicago Audubon Society, where he led many bird
20walks and shared the joys of birding with students and the
21public; he cultivated an expertise in butterflies,
22dragonflies, and damselflies and became an official dragonfly

1and damselfly monitor for the State of Illinois; beyond his
2work and volunteer activities, he was a rock of unconditional
3love and support for his family; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Craig Stettner was preceded in death by his
5father; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Craig Stettner is survived by his mother; his
7brothers, Tom and Dave; his sisters-in-law, Allison and Amy;
8his niece, Elizabeth; his nephews, Nathan, Aaron, and Nicholas;
9his uncle, Ray; his aunt, Carolyn; and his cousins, Jodi, Jill,
10Dan, and their families; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Craig Raymond Stettner and extend our sincere condolences to
14his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Craig Stettner as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
