HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Frederick
4Lee "Fred" Bradshaw of Griggsville, who passed away on March
521, 2019; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Fred Bradshaw was born in Quincy to Thomas and
7Lois Sweeting Bradshaw on April 6, 1936; he graduated from
8Griggsville High School in 1954 and then joined the United
9States Army, serving for three years; after returning to Pike
10County, he attended Western Illinois University, where he
11received a bachelor's degree in agriculture; he married Carole
12Schulten in Hannibal, Missouri on July 9, 1969; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Fred Bradshaw was a farmer and an agriculture
14advocate; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Fred Bradshaw served on many boards, including the
16Farm Credit Services of Western Illinois, the Soybean Checkoff
17Board, the National Biodiesel Board, the Council on Food and
18Agriculture Research (CFAR), where he was treasurer, the Two
19Rivers RC&D, where he was a past chairman, the Pike County Farm
20Bureau, the Griggsville Rural Fire District, where he was
21treasurer, and the Pike County Board; he was one of the
22founding members of the Orr Research Center Corporation Board;

1he took the concept of an agriculture research farm in Western
2Illinois and made it the show place it is today; he spent
3countless hours promoting, lobbying, fundraising, and
4negotiating purchases to get the project off the ground; one of
5his proudest moments was when he helped facilitate the
6one-of-a-kind agreement between the University of Illinois and
7John Wood Community College to share resources at the Orr
8Center; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Fred Bradshaw received many awards for his work in
10agriculture, including the Award of Merit for Distinguished
11Service to Agriculture from the Gamma Sigma Delta Honor Society
12of Agriculture at the University of Illinois and the Lifetime
13Achievement Recognition from the College of ACES at the
14University of Illinois; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Fred Bradshaw was a member of the Griggsville
16Masonic Lodge and Shrine, the Griggsville United Methodist
17Church, and the Griggsville-Perry American Legion; he served as
18a Precinct Committeeman and as Vice Chairman of the Pike County
19Republican Party; he enjoyed his political and community
20activities, but his true joy in life was spending time with his
21family; he and Carole visited all 50 states and 47 countries on
22every continent except Antarctica; when he was not traveling,
23he could be found running the bulldozer on the farm; he spent
24many hours doing clean up and dirt work; he especially enjoyed

1visiting with his grandchildren and attending their
2activities; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Fred Bradshaw was preceded in death by his
4parents; his in-laws, Charles and Beulah Schulten; and his
5brothers-in-law, Chuck Schulten and John Adams; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Fred Bradshaw is survived by his wife, Carole; his
7sons, Jeff (Erin) Bradshaw, Eric Bradshaw, and Matt (Lori)
8Bradshaw; his grandchildren, Sami and Lincoln Bradshaw, Jacob
9and Jane Bradshaw, and Wesley, Cody, and Kyle Bradshaw; his
10brothers, Philip (Linda) Bradshaw and Harvey (Judy) Bradshaw;
11his sisters-in-law, Kay Adams and Sue (John) Bier; and his many
12nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
14HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15we mourn the passing of Frederick Lee "Fred" Bradshaw and
16extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all
17who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Fred Bradshaw as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
