SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John Mumma of Philo, who passed away on
4February 13, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Mumma was born in Champaign on October 30,
61951; he married Brenda Dallas in Tuscola on January 17, 1976;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, John Mumma was a lifelong farmer in the Philo and
9Sidney areas; he also served as a former assistant fire chief
10for the volunteer Philo Fire Department; and
 
11    WHEREAS, John Mumma was a Philo Village Trustee for over 30
12years and President of the Philo Park Board and the Bill Huss
13Chapel Cemetery; he served on the Locust Grove Cemetery Board
14and was a member of the Unity Alumni Athletic Association
15(UAAA); he was a member of the Illinois Tractor Pulling
16Association Board (ITPA) and eventually became vice president;
17he was also a flagman and tech official for the ITPA; he served
18on the U.S. Association of Pullers Board (USAP) and became a
19competing member of both the ITPA and USAP in 2009; he was a
20two-time Pro Pulling League Champion and a multi-time ITPA
21Champion; he coached his daughters in softball and enjoyed
22going to his grandchildren's sporting events; he enjoyed

1spending the winter in Florida; he was an avid fan of the St.
2Louis Cardinals, Fighting Illini Sports, the Unity Rockets, and
3NASCAR; he loved truck and tractor pulling and drag racing; and
 
4    WHEREAS, John Mumma was preceded in death by his parents;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, John Mumma is survived by his wife, Brenda; his
7daughters, Misty (Jeremy) Nelson, Robin (Cory) Duitsman, and
8Kristin Stratton; his grandchildren, Kayla Nelson, Bradey
9Duitsman, Chloey Duitsman, Tanner Nelson, Kinzey Duitsman,
10Michelle Stratton, and Faith Stratton; his father-in-law and
11mother-in-law, Jim and Helen Dallas; his cousin, Bob Stahl; and
12his many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15John Mumma and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
16friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of John Mumma as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
