SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Charles E. "Chuck" Brown of Peoria, who
4passed away on October 3, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Chuck Brown was born in Queens, New York to
6Charles Edward and Anne (Habel) Brown on April 1, 1924; he
7served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the South Pacific with the
84th Marine Division, C Company, where he was wounded at Saipan
9and Iwo Jima; he was awarded a Purple Heart and a Gold Star; he
10was honorably discharged in 1945 and married Eleanor Lee
11Riggins in Peoria on August 4, 1945; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Chuck Brown and his brother, Bob, started Chuck
13Brown Builders in the Peoria area; he later became owner and
14operator of Sheridan Road Lumber in 1973, which he operated
15until his passing; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Chuck Brown was a member of the University United
17Methodist Church in Peoria, the Mohammed Temple Shrine, the
18Royal Order of Jesters, and Carpenter's Local 183; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Chuck Brown was preceded in death by his parents;
20his stepfather, Ed DeVore; and his brothers, George E. and
21Robert L. Brown; and

1    WHEREAS, Chuck Brown is survived by his wife, Eleanor; his
2children, Nancy (David) Evans and Dr. Terry (Michele) Brown;
3his grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Stewart, Jason (Jamie)
4Evans, Nick (Addi) Evans, and Dr. Amalia Winters; and his
5great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jordan, Presley, Morgan, Charlie,
6Drew, Kelsey, and Liam; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Charles E. "Chuck" Brown and extend our sincere condolences to
10his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Chuck Brown as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
