SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Melvin Anderson of Silvis, who passed
4away on November 3, 2019 at the age of 103; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Melvin Anderson was born in Harvard to John and
6Olivia C. (Goranson) Anderson on November 10, 1915; he married
7Myrtle S. Sandberg on December 2, 1939; he served in the U.S.
8Army during World War II from 1943 to 1945; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Melvin Anderson farmed for 17 years; he was a
10machine tool operator at the Rock Island Arsenal for 19 years,
11retiring in 1984; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Melvin Anderson was a member of the First
13Evangelical Free Church in Moline, where he served as a deacon;
14he enjoyed cars and was an avid reader; he was deeply committed
15to his faith and read the Bible daily; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Melvin Anderson was preceded in death by his wife,
17Myrtle; his parents; four brothers; and four sisters; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Melvin Anderson is survived by his daughters,
19Beverly (Dan) Larson and Bonnie L. (Carlan) Bounds; his
20grandchildren, Deborah (Lowrie) Robertson, Jeffery (Joy)

1Larson, Steve (Jolene) Larson, Jacqui (Andy) Sainsbury, and
2Robert (Jessica) Bounds; his great-grandchildren, Hannah,
3Duncan, Ceilidh, and Liam Robertson, Kathryn, Joshua, Kevin,
4and Zachary Larson, Carlyn and Caleb Sainsbury, and Jordan and
5Kaitlyn Bounds; many nieces and nephews; and numerous friends;
6therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Melvin Anderson and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Melvin Anderson as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
