SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Melvin Fredrick Schroeder of Pesotum, who
4passed away on April 4, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Melvin Schroeder was born to Ernest and Irene
6(Kresin) Schroeder of Sadorus on February 17, 1936; he
7graduated from Unity High School in 1953; he attended Illinois
8State University; he married Shirley Augsburger at Trinity
9Lutheran Church in Peoria on August 4, 1957; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Melvin Schroeder farmed his entire life in the
11Sadorus-Pesotum area; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Melvin Schroeder served his community as a member
13on the Champaign County Regional School Board, the Champaign
14County Mental Health Board, and the Champaign County Zoning
15Board of Appeals; he was also the past president of the
16Champaign County Farm Bureau; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Melvin Schroeder was a lifelong member of St.
18Paul's Lutheran Church in Sadorus, where he enjoyed teaching
19Sunday school; alongside his wife, he served as a 4-H leader
20for the Pesotum Pioneers for many years; he was a lifetime
21member of the Unity Athletic Alumni Association; and

1    WHEREAS, Melvin Schroeder will be remembered as someone who
2especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and
3traveling with his wife, as well as greeting and talking with
4anyone he might encounter along the way; he will be missed by
5his family and friends; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Melvin Schroeder is survived by his wife of 62
7years, Shirley Schroeder; his sons, Chris Schroeder, Randy
8Schroeder, and Jon (Susan) Schroeder; his grandchildren, Jenna
9Linton, Jason Schroeder, Justin (Ericka) Schroeder, and Noah
10Schroeder; his great-grandchild, Tucker Schroeder; his sister,
11Lois (Don) Wood; his sister-in-law, Phyliss (Don) Willems; and
12his brother-in-law, Carl Johnson; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Melvin Fredrick Schroeder and extend our sincere condolences to
16his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Melvin Schroeder as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
