SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Donald J. "Don" Carter of Oak Park, who
4passed away on October 18, 2019 at the age of 92; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Don Carter was born in Chicago to James and Monica
6Carter on October 30, 1926; he served in the U.S. Army Air
7Corps during World War II; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Don Carter worked for Brigance Chevrolet in Oak
9Park for over 20 years; he also worked for Sun Electric, now
10Snap-On Incorporated, until his retirement in 1992; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Don Carter passionately volunteered at Hines VA
12Hospital, the St. Vincent DePaul Society, and Morton East High
13School in Cicero, where he used his automotive skills to help
14students; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Don Carter will be fondly remembered for his Model
16'T' and his involvement in the Midwest Model 'T' Club and the
17Salt Creek Model 'A' Club; he enjoyed camping with his wife,
18and they were members of the Spinning Wheels and Over the Hill
19camping clubs; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Don Carter was preceded in death by his parents

1and his brother, James Carter; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Don Carter is survived by his wife, Carol Carter;
3his children, Brent, Donald Jr. (the late Laura), Elaine (the
4late Michael Haughan), and Steven (Laura) Carter; his 11
5grandchildren; his 15 great-grandchildren; and his four
6great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Donald J. "Don" Carter and extend our sincere condolences to
10his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Don Carter as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
