SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Gale D. Beekman of Ipava, who passed
4away on March 12, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gale Beekman was born to Willis F. and Marjorie
6L. (Thompson) Beekman in Ipava on December 23, 1946; he served
7as a specialist 4 in the U.S. Army and was stationed stateside
8during the Vietnam War; he married Annie Stambaugh in Canton
9on August 7, 2004; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Gale Beekman began his professional career
11working at Fiat-Allis in Bluff City before working as a
12salesman for Moorman Feed; he then began his insurance career,
13becoming an agent for Country Companies; he later became owner
14and operator of the Insurance Center in Havana for over 30
15years; he also assisted in the auctioneer business with his
16son, Chad; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Gale Beekman was a member of the Masonic Lodge in
18Havana and Astoria American Legion Post #25, where he was a
19past commander; he was a member of Summum Christian Church,
20where he also served on the church board; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Gale Beekman enjoyed gardening, golfing, fishing,

1camping, hunting mushrooms, and caring for his farm; he also
2enjoyed traveling, both in the United States and abroad; he
3was an avid horseman, training and trail riding his Tennessee
4Walkers; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gale Beekman is survived by his wife; his
6children, Stacey (Richard) Meehan, Brad (Bambi) Beekman, Chad
7(Heather) Beekman, Kelly (Tom) Carlock, and Rachel (Clint)
8Laethem; his grandchildren, Zeke (Lauren Krohe) Meehan, Zeb
9Meehan, Macey (Lucas) Utter, Gage (Alex Silvola) Beekman,
10Bailey Cale, Broc Beekman, Brynlee Beekman, Cade Beekman, Clay
11Beekman, Cole Beekman, Lexi (Michael Curry) Carlock, Gabe
12Carlock, Belle Carlock, Ella Laethem, and Evelyn Laethem; his
13great-grandsons, Nash and Crew Utter; and his siblings, Karen
14(Scott) Tippey and Donald (and Debra) Beekman; therefore, be
15it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Gale D. Beekman and extend our sincere condolences to his
19family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the family of Gale Beekman as an expression of our
23deepest sympathy.
