SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Orick M. "Corky" Nightlinger Jr. of
4Danville, who passed away on May 5, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Corky Nightlinger was born to Orick Manning and
6Mildred Winfield Nightlinger Sr. in Fairmount on July 30,
71934; he attended Westville High School and Utterback Business
8College; he married Dolores Shaw in Westville on July 27,
91958; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Corky Nightlinger served as a printing pressman
11for the University of Illinois and Danville Commercial News;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Corky Nightlinger served on the Vermilion County
14Board of Directors for 11 years and the Danville Township
15Board of Trustees for many years; he also served as a precinct
16committeeman for the Democratic Party for many years; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Corky Nightlinger attended Calvary Baptist
18Church, and he had served as a deacon and choir director at
19Edgewood Baptist Church; he previously served on the school
20board of the former Hope Christian High School; and

1    WHEREAS, Corky Nightlinger loved working in his yard,
2spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren,
3and passionately discussing politics; he also took a great
4interest in studying family genealogy; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Corky Nightlinger was beloved for his sense of
6light and humor; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Corky Nightlinger was preceded in death by his
8brothers, Carl J. Nightlinger, Blaine Nightlinger, and Gary
9Nightlinger; his grandson, Jacob Manning Burow; his
10granddaughter, Kandi Lynn Bray; and his niece, Merry Christina
11Conrad; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Corky Nightlinger is survived by his wife,
13Dolores; his daughters, Kitty (Jay) Dangcil, Kimberly (Don)
14Nightlinger-Bray, Krystal Nightlinger, Kelly (Bill) McMasters,
15and Kerry (Troy) Rippon; his niece and his nephew, who he and
16Dolores raised, Michael Marx and Michelle Rice; his
17grandchildren, Chastity Burow-Catney, Amanda Richards, Heather
18Nightlinger, Sarah Nightlinger, Kacie Henry, and Chase Rippon;
19and nine great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
21ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
22Orick M. "Corky" Nightlinger Jr. and extend our sincere

2him; and be it further
 
3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4presented to the family of Corky Nightlinger as an expression
