SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Paul Eugene DeGroot of St. Anne, who
4passed away on December 19, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Paul DeGroot was born to Donna and Virgil DeGroot
6in Kankakee on August 23, 1958; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Paul DeGroot was a vegetable and grain farmer for
8over 50 years, working alongside his brother and business
9partner, Jim, and his three sons, Andrew, Adam, and Aaron, on
10their family farm in the unincorporated Wichert area north of
11St. Anne; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Paul DeGroot loved his community and studying his
13family heritage; he was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman who
14enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting sporting clays across
15North America with his sons and friends; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Paul DeGroot went by many nicknames, including
17"Papa", "Paulie", and "Pablo;" he will be remembered for his
18fun and colorful personality; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Paul DeGroot was preceded in death by his
20parents; his brother, James DeGroot; and his mother-in-law and

1father-in-law, Noel and Frances Lentz; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Paul DeGroot was the husband of Cynthia Diana
3(Lentz) DeGroot for 41 years; the father of Andrew (Jessica)
4DeGroot, Adam (Jenny) DeGroot, and Aaron (Avery) DeGroot; the
5grandfather of Lexie, Levi, Logan, Marshall, Eloise, and
6Juliet DeGroot; the brother of Patricia DeGroot and Paula
7DeGroot; the brother-in-law of Kathy DeGroot and Debbie
8Kramer; and the uncle of many nieces and nephews; therefore,
9be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Paul Eugene DeGroot and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Paul DeGroot as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
