SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Ida M. (Guzzo) Rummans of Rock Island,
4who passed away on January 17, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ida Rummans was born to Domenic and Lena Cusimano
6Guzzo in Rock Island on August 7, 1938; she graduated from
7Alleman High School; she married Elmer Rummans at St. Pius X
8Catholic Church in Rock Island on May 24, 1958; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Ida Rummans worked in the advertising department
10of Deere and Company for 20-plus years; she also ran her own
11business, Butterflies R Free, in Rock Island for many years;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Ida Rummans was a member of St. Pius X Catholic
14Church in Rock Island, where she formerly cooked for all the
15priests; she also loved volunteering her time for Habitat for
16Humanity; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Ida Rummans was an avid gardener who won the Rock
18Island Beautification Award; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Ida Rummans was preceded in death by her parents
20and her siblings, Angie Giammetta, Thomas Guzzo, Sam Guzzo,

1Joe Guzzo, and Jim Guzzo; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Ida Rummans is survived by her children, Gregory
3M. (partner, Gil Cartwright) Rummans, Dana (Virgil) Mayberry,
4and Stephen (Gayla) Rummans; her grandchildren, Mia Mayberry,
5Anthony (Jenny) Rummans, Kameron (Laura) Rummans, and Krista
6Knight; 10 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Tina Sonneville
7and Domenic Guzzo; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore,
8be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Ida M. (Guzzo) Rummans and extend our sincere condolences to
12her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Ida Rummans as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
