HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois wish to honor Alberta "Bertie" Miller for her
4 25 years of outstanding public service; and
 
5     WHEREAS, She was employed by Grant Township as a secretary
6 on March 20, 1971, and in 1979 was appointed Supervisor; she
7 held that position until 1996; and
 
8     WHEREAS, In 1979, Bertie started the Christmas baskets for
9 Grant Township and was a recipient in 1992 of the Illinois Home
10 Town Award for her work with the baskets; she delighted in
11 playing Mrs. Claus for numerous events, especially the Fox Lake
12 Chamber of Commerce Christmas party; and
 
13     WHEREAS, As Supervisor, she was responsible for the
14 purchase of 41 acres on Molidor Road which is now the home of
15 the Grant Township Administrative Offices and Highway
16 Department, the Fox Lake Fire Protection District, Station #3,
17 and a large area for a park which is enjoyed by the residents
18 of Grant Township; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Bertie and Robert Miller were married for many
20 years; together they had six children, Pat (husband Warren)
21 Dahn, Robert E. Miller III, who gave his life for his country
22 in Vietnam on January 31, 1969, Tom (wife Kathy) Miller, Bruce
23 (wife Cindy) Miller, Mike (wife Trish) Miller, and Dan (wife
24 Jeanette) Miller; her grandchildren are Eric (wife Patti) and
25 Mindy Dahl, Michelle Miller, Bridgid, Erin, and Shannon Miller,
26 and Nathan, Lauren and Justin Miller; her great-granddaughter
27 is Amy Dahn; and
 
28     WHEREAS, Her accomplishments have earned her the respect
29 and admiration of her friends and neighbors; the citizens of
30 Grand Township are grateful for her service to the community;

1 therefore, be it
 
2     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
3 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
4 we honor Bertie Miller for her many years of exceptional
5 service to Grant Township and we extend to her our best wishes
6 for continued health and happiness; and be it further
 
7     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to Alberta "Bertie" Miller as an expression of our
9 respect and esteem.
