HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to express their sincere condolences to
4 the family and friends of Bishop Henrietta Casey of Dixmoor who
5 passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2006; and
 
6     WHEREAS, She was born on July 10, 1928; she was a resident
7 of Dixmoor for 45 years and was united in marriage to Bishop
8 Louis Casey for 50 years; and
 
9     WHEREAS, She was pastor of the Church of the Living God
10 Pentecostal for 21 years until her passing; she and her husband
11 raised 50 foster children over a 35 year period; there were
12 always six to eight children living in their home; though they
13 were only able to adopt four children, she wished they could
14 have adopted all of them; she and her husband were Cub Scout
15 and Boy Scout leaders for ten years; Bishop Henrietta Casey was
16 a Brownie and Girl Scout leader for ten years as well; and
 
17     WHEREAS, She was also a volunteer for the Red Cross, Head
18 Start Program, and the Parent's Teacher Association in Dixmoor;
19 and
 
20     WHEREAS, She was most happy being a child of God, wife, and
21 mother; her love of children over the years earned her the name
22 "Momma Casey"; she spent her life giving to others and opened
23 her home for those who were in need and she refused to "play by
24 the rules" when it came to the children in the foster care
25 system; she taught that no matter who you are and what your
26 last name is, in her house, all are sisters and brothers; and
 
27     WHEREAS, The passing of Bishop Henrietta Casey has been
28 deeply felt by many, especially her husband, children, and
29 grandchildren; therefore, be it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3 we mourn the passing of Bishop Henrietta Casey, and we extend
4 our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who
5 knew and loved her; and be it further
 
6     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to her family as an expression of our deepest
8 sympathy.
