HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois wish to honor John Morrow on the occasion of
4 his retirement from the Douglas County Board after serving the
5 county for two terms from December 1998 to December of 2006;
6 and
 
7     WHEREAS, John was born in Tuscola at Jarman Hospital, the
8 first child and son of J. Kent and Avis Revilla Myers Morrow;
9 he was raised and now lives in Newman; he was united marriage
10 to Lavonne Awick in June of 1960 in Douglas County; he and his
11 wife have three children together and five grandchildren; and
 
12     WHEREAS, John is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University
13 and of the Illinois Bankers Association Graduate School of
14 Banking; he is a former teacher, served as Vice-President of
15 the First State Bank of Newman for 15 years, and was also the
16 owner and operator of the Morrow Insurance Agency Inc. located
17 in Newman for 32 years, until his retirement from there in
18 January of 2000; and
 
19     WHEREAS, For the past seven years, John has been serving as
20 the Newman Township Supervisor and has been associated with the
21 township board as a member for many years; and

1     WHEREAS, John served for several years as the Newman
2 Republican Precinct Committeeman and Treasurer of the Douglas
3 County Republican Central Committee; he has served his
4 community as President as well as Treasurer of the Newman
5 County Library Board; he worked with young boys as the Newman
6 Boy Scout Master for 15 years and is still an active member of
7 the Newman Masonic Lodge as Secretary; and
 
8     WHEREAS, John has a passion for his hobbies of fishing,
9 hunting, and traveling, which he will undoubtedly take part in
10 them during his retirement; therefore, be it
 
11     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
13 congratulate John Morrow on the occasion of his retirement from
14 the Douglas County Board and wish him many enjoyable retirement
15 years; and be it further
 
16     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to Mr. Morrow as a token of our esteem.
