HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Robert E.
4 "Bob" Brinkmeier of Springfield, who passed away on March 9,
5 2007; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Robert Brinkmeier was born in Stephenson County,
7 the son of Daniel F. and Nellie Asche Brinkmeier; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Mr. Brinkmeier was a United States Army Air Force
9 veteran of World War II; he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree
10 from Bradley University and a Master of Arts degree from
11 Northern Illinois University; he was a teacher, coach, and
12 athletic director at Forreston High School from 1948 to 1968,
13 and continued teaching and coaching at Aquin Catholic High
14 School in Freeport from 1968 to 1973; and he was a substitute
15 teacher at various high schools in the Springfield area; and
 
16     WHEREAS, In 1967 Robert Brinkmeier began his service as a
17 State Representative for the 35th district in the Illinois
18 General Assembly, serving for 10 years; he also served as
19 assistant director of the Illinois State Fair, director of
20 legislation of the Attorney General's office, program
21 administrator for Eastern Illinois University, administrative
22 hearing officer for the Secretary of State, lobbyist for the

1 Illinois Prairie State Chiropractic Association, and with the
2 Speakers Bureau of the Secretary of State's office; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Robert Brinkmeier was inducted into the Illinois
4 Basketball Hall of Fame as a coach in 1981; he was a member of
5 the Illinois Education Association, the National Education
6 Association, the Springfield Downtown Kiwanis, Knights of
7 Columbus Council 364, American Legion Post 32, Pasfield Men's
8 Golf Club, and Christ the King Church; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Robert Brinkmeier is survived by his sons, Zack
10 and Dane Brinkmeier; his brother, Wayne Brinkmeier; his sister,
11 Leola Schneiderman; his many nieces and nephews; and his former
12 wife, Robin Brinkmeier; his first wife, Inez, preceded him in
13 death; therefore, be it
 
14     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
15 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
16 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of former
17 State Representative Robert Brinkmeier; and be it further
 
18     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19 presented to the family of Robert "Bob" Brinkmeier as a symbol
20 of our sincere condolences.
