    Amends the Illinois Dental Practice Act. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning the administration of general anesthesia or conscious sedation.

1     AN ACT concerning regulation.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Dental Practice Act is amended by
5 changing Section 8.1 as follows:
 
6     (225 ILCS 25/8.1)  (from Ch. 111, par. 2308.1)
7     (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2016)
8     Sec. 8.1. No licensed dentist shall administer general
9 anesthesia or conscious sedation without first applying for and
10 and obtaining a permit for such purpose from the Department.
11 The Department shall issue such permit only after ascertaining
12 that the applicant possesses the minimum qualifications
13 necessary to protect public safety. A person with a dental
14 degree who administers anesthesia or conscious sedation in an
15 approved hospital training program under the supervision of
16 either a licensed dentist holding such permit or a physician
17 licensed to practice medicine in all its branches shall not be
18 required to obtain such permit.
