SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Robert "Allen" Meyer of Buffalo Grove,
4 who passed away on June 22, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Robert "Allen" Meyer was born on June 27, 1950 in
6 Lander, Wyoming; his parents were Robert and Georgie Meyer; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Robert "Allen" Meyer was a graduate of Lake
8 Stevens High School; he earned his Master of Library Science
9 degree at Northern Illinois University; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Robert "Allen" Meyer had a lifelong career working
11 in libraries; he began working at the Vernon Area Public
12 Library District in 1985 as a Children's Librarian; he became
13 the district director for the Vernon Area Public Library in
14 1985, where he was known as a capable and effective
15 administrator; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Robert "Allen" Meyer was a driving force in the
17 successful management of the building expansion of the Vernon
18 Area Library facility; his hard work and leadership were
19 instrumental in the passage of a new building referendum; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Robert "Allen" Meyer was a member of Willow Creek

1 Church in South Barrington; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Robert "Allen" Meyer loved to visit his family on
3 the West Coast; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Robert "Allen" Meyer was preceded in death by his
5 parents, Robert and Georgie Meyer, and his brothers, Charles,
6 William, and David Meyer; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Robert "Allen" Meyer is survived by his life
8 partner, Jeff Honokaupu; his brothers and sisters, Sue (Pat)
9 Welch, Anne Behnke, Cindy (Bill) Short, Mary Kingery, John
10 (Patsy) Meyer, Paul (Karin) Meyer, and Dan Meyer; and his
11 sister-in-law, Meg Meyer; therefore, be it
 
12     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
13 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
14 his family and friends, the passing of Robert "Allen" Meyer;
15 and be it further
 
16     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to the family of Robert "Allen" Meyer as an
18 expression of our sympathy.
