SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
625 ILCS 5/3-624  from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 3-624

    Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that a charitable organization deemed eligible by the Secretary of State shall design decals to be affixed on plates issued to retired members of the United States Armed Forces. Provides that the decals shall designate the applicant's branch of service, theater of action, or both. Provides that the Secretary may prescribe rules governing the requirements and approval of charitable decals. Provides that the charitable organization authorized to design decals may establish a fee for the purchase of charitable decals and shall report by July 31 of each year to the Secretary of State Vehicle Services Department the sticker fee, the number of charitable decals sold, the total revenue received from the sale of charitable decals during the previous fiscal year, and any other information deemed necessary by the Secretary of State.

1    AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing
5Section 3-624 as follows:
 
6    (625 ILCS 5/3-624)  (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 3-624)
7    Sec. 3-624. Retired Military license plates.
8    (a) The Secretary, upon receipt of an application made in
9the form prescribed by the Secretary of State, may issue to
10retired members of the United States Armed Forces who reside in
11Illinois, special registration plates. The special plates
12issued pursuant to this Section shall be affixed only to
13passenger vehicles of the first division, motorcycles, or motor
14vehicles of the second division weighing not more than 8,000
15pounds and subject to the staggered registration system. The
16design and color of such plates shall be wholly within the
17discretion of the Secretary of State. The Secretary may, in his
18or her discretion, allow the plates to be issued as vanity or
19personalized plates in accordance with Section 3-405.1 of this
20Code.
21    (b) A charitable organization deemed eligible by the
22Secretary of State shall design decals to be affixed on plates
23issued under this Section. The decals shall designate the

4    (c) The charitable organization authorized to design
5decals under subsection (b) of this Section may establish a fee
