SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Danny Ray Day Sr. of Dixon, who passed
4away on September 29, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Danny Ray Day Sr. was born December 23, 1946, in
6Jellico, Tennessee; he was the son of Kernie and Iva
7(Huddleston) Day; he married Glenda Boyd on August 13, 1966, in
8Dixon; and
 
9    WHEREAS, At an early age, Danny Ray Day Sr. and his family
10moved to Kincaid; he grew up helping his father work the farm;
11in 1964, he moved to Dixon and began working at Dixon
12Publishing (later Dixonweb), where he remained until his
13retirement in 1983; and
 
14    WHEREAS, In 1966, Danny Ray Day Sr. enlisted in the United
15States Army; he served as a helicopter mechanic with the 67th
16Aviation Company, VII Corps and was stationed at Stuttgart,
17Germany and White Sands, New Mexico; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Danny Ray Day Sr. had a great interest in cars,
19especially hot rods; he was the owner of a 1951 Chevy, a 1951
20Ford convertible, and a 1956 Ford two-door hard top; and

1    WHEREAS, Danny Ray Day Sr. attended Harvest Time Bible
2Church and Lincoln Avenue Church of God; he was also a member
3of the Ben Caudill Chapter of the Sons of Confederate Veterans,
4the Sauk Valley Civil War Round Table, the Rock River Valley
5Civil War Round Table, and the Dixon Golden Kiwanis Club; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Danny Ray Day Sr. was preceded in death by his
7parents; his sisters, Mahala Dunbar and Millie White; and his
8brother, Bobby Day; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Danny Ray Day Sr. is survived by his wife, Glenda
10Day; his sons, Danny (Lenae) Day Jr., Darin (Debbie) Day, and
11Dion (Tasha) Day; his daughter, Roxanne (Ken) Owens; his
12grandchildren, Whitney, Shadow, Kamerin, Kaylee, Dariyn,
13Drevin, Daehly, Dreyden, Raven, and Harvest; his
14great-granddaughter, Taylor; his sisters, Kathleen Siler,
15Imogene Dowdell, and Lucille Sullivan; and his brother, Jack
16Day; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
19his family and friends, the passing of Danny Ray Day Sr.; and
20be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the family of Danny Ray Day Sr. as an expression
