SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joan Y. "Joanie" Winston of Waukegan, who
4passed away on June 24, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joan Winston was born on November 15, 1947, in
6Waukegan; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Joan Winston graduated from Waukegan High School
8with the Class of 1966; she subsequently earned her teaching
9certificate; and
 
10    WHEREAS, After receiving her teaching certificate, Joan
11Winston taught preschool at Carmen Elementary School in
12Waukegan; she later opened Joan's Antique Shop, which
13specialized in antiques and jewelry; after giving up the shop,
14she continued to deal in the antique business; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Joan Winston was preceded in death by her loving
16daughter, Yvonne; her father, James Dorsey; her father-in-law,
17Booker Winston (Mammie); her brother, James Dorsey, Ph.D.; her
18uncles, Robert Hollingsworth and George Hollingsworth; her
19brothers-in-law, Donald Winston and Charles Chapman
20(Henrietta); and several close uncles, aunts, and friends; and

1    WHEREAS, Joan Winston is survived by her husband, James
2Winston Sr.; her son, James Winston Jr. (Jamie); her mother,
3Margaret Dorsey; her sister, Frances Tompkins (Patrick); her
4brothers, Curtis Dorsey (Barbara) and Marvin Dorsey; her
5uncles, Fred Hollingsworth, Mel Dorsey, and Dean Dorsey; her
6aunt, Maria McNulty; her sisters-in-law, Jackie Dorsey and
7Doris Brunner; her brothers-in-law, Curtis Winston, Ronald
8Winston, and Gregory Winston; her very close friends, Jill
9Figgins and Laura Bonds; and her many aunts, uncles, cousins,
10and friends; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
13her family and friends, the passing of Joan Y. "Joanie"
14Winston; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Joan Winston as an expression of our
17sympathy.
