AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 997




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 997 on page 21, by 
3replacing lines 1 through 3 with the following:
4"from carrying a concealed firearm as provided in subsection 
5(a)"; and

 
6on page 21, by replacing lines 7 through 18 with the following:
7"outside of the vehicle.
8     Nothing in this Act shall affect or prohibit the 
9possession, carrying, or transportation of a handgun or other 
10firearm which is possessed within a vehicle, carried within a 
11vehicle, or transported within a vehicle and the handgun or 
12other firearm:
13        (1) is broken down in a non-functioning state; or
14        (2) is not immediately accessible; or
15        (3) is unloaded and enclosed in a case, firearm 
16    carrying box,
shipping box, or other container by a person 
17    who has been issued a currently
valid Firearm Owner's

1    Identification Card.
2    For the purposes of this subsection (d), "vehicle" has the 
3meaning as defined in Section 1-217 of the Illinois Vehicle 
4Code.".
