AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 3006

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 3006, AS AMENDED, by
3replacing everything after the enacting clause with the
4following:
 
5    "Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by
6changing Section 1-2-11 as follows:
 
7    (65 ILCS 5/1-2-11)  (from Ch. 24, par. 1-2-11)
8    Sec. 1-2-11. (a) A sheriff may serve any process or make
9any arrest in a municipality or a part of a municipality
10located in the county in which the sheriff was elected that any
11officer of that municipality is authorized to make under this
12Code or any ordinance passed under this Code.
13    (b) Police officers may serve summons for violations of
14ordinances occurring within their municipalities. In
15municipalities with a population of 1,000,000 or more, private
16process servers and active duty or retired police officers may

1serve summons for violations of ordinances occurring within
2their municipalities.
3    (c) In addition to the powers stated in Section 8.1a of the
4Housing Authorities Act, in counties with a population of
53,000,000 or more inhabitants, members of a housing authority
6police force may serve process for forcible entry and detainer
7actions commenced by that housing authority and may execute
8orders of possession for that housing authority.

10    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
