HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Willie W.
4Flowers Jr. of Chicago, who passed away on April 8, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Willie Flowers Jr. was born on May 23, 1950, in
6Inverness, Mississippi, to Lula Mary Flowers and Willie W.
7Flowers Sr.; he attended St. Cecilia Elementary and St. Bernard
8Elementary Schools; he attended Francis Parker High School and
9Leo High School; he earned several degrees from Kennedy King
10College and received a scholarship to Lewis University; he
11married Kathy; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Willie Flowers Jr. first worked for St. Luke
13Presbyterian Hospital and later the Chicago Transit Authority
14and the Jewish Foundation of America before finally settling at
15the Office of Cook County State's Attorney in 1998; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Willie Flowers Jr. enjoyed sports and playing
17softball and basketball in his younger year; he was an avid
18reader and liked spending time with his family; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Willie Flowers Jr. was preceded in death by his
20father; and

1    WHEREAS, Willie Flowers Jr. is survived by his mother; his
2siblings, Mary E. Flowers-Coutee (Dan), Betty J. Phillips
3(Wayne), Shirley A. Hiner (Thomas, preceded in death), Edward
4J. Flowers (Sharnelle), Louis (Steve) Flowers (Lynette), and
5Kimberly C. Flowers; his uncle; his 24 nieces and nephews; his
615 great-nieces and nephews; and a host of great-great-nieces
7and nephews; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we mourn the passing of Willie Flowers Jr., and extend our
11sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
12and loved him; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Willie Flowers Jr. as an expression
15of our deepest sympathy.
