HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Ralph
4Edwin Gussarson of Antioch, who passed away on March 11, 2014;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Ralph Gussarson was born on May 2, 1925 to Hugo
7and Edith (nee Olson) Gussarson; he graduated from Antioch High
8School in 1942 and joined the United States Navy in 1943,
9serving in the South Pacific during World War II; he was
10discharged in 1946 and married Ruthella Keister at the United
11Methodist Church in Antioch on October 8, 1949; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Ralph Gussarson retired as a diecast machinist in
131982 from the Outboard Motor Corporation in Waukegan; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Ralph Gussarson was a charter and life-member of
15the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4551 in Antioch, where he
16was Bingo Chairman; he was also a life-member of the American
17Legion Post #771 in Gurnee; in 1954, he joined the Antioch
18Moose Lodge #525 and received a Fellowship Decree and served as
19Governor from 1989 to 1991; he had served as past-President of
20the Antioch Township Republican Club, Precinct #2
21committeeman, Alderman of Felter's Subdivision, and Antioch
22Beautification Committee member; and

1    WHEREAS, Ralph Gussarson enjoyed gardening and playing
2golf; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Ralph Gussarson was preceded in death by his
4parents, and by his brother, Otto Gussarson; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ralph Gussarson is survived by his wife, of nearly
665 years, Ruthella; his children, Bruce (Angela), Joan (Troy)
7Shea, Daryl "Duffy" (Arlene), LuAnn (Alfred) Ultes, and Alan
8(Caryn); his grandchildren, Tricia Fandre, Lisa Chavez, Adam
9Chavez, Kristy Gussarson, Jennifer Gussarson, Jason Ultes,
10Jeffrey Ultes, Daryl Renee Gussarson, and Michael Gussarson;
11his 23 great-grandchildren; his 5 great-great-grandchildren;
12his sister, Ruth Winfield; and several nieces, nephews, and
13friends; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
15NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
16we mourn the passing of Ralph Edwin Gussarson, and extend our
17sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
18and loved him; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Ralph Gussarson as an expression of
21our deepest sympathy.
