HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Albert
4Davis Cheeks of Chicago, who passed away on November 9, 2014;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Albert Cheeks was born on April 9, 1930 to Alice
7(nee Hunter) and Sandy Cheeks; he was one of 9 children; he
8married Dovie Leon Conway in 1954 in Canton, Mississippi; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Albert Cheeks worked at International Harvest,
10Inc. as a Master Mechanic for 35 years, retiring in 1992; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Albert Cheeks enjoyed walking, bowling, cooking,
12planting vegetables, deer hunting with his nephews, watching
13Wheel of Fortune with his wife, and secretly watching soap
14operas; he was an avid sports fan, especially of the Chicago
15Bears; he was a lifelong member of Fellowship Missionary
16Baptist Church in Chicago; he volunteered much of his time with
17the Greater Chicago Food Depository to help the less fortunate;
18and
 
19    WHEREAS, Albert Cheeks was preceded in death by his
20parents; and

1    WHEREAS, Albert Cheeks is survived by his wife, Dovie; his
2children, Delois Cheeks Graham, Albert Cheeks, Jr., Ronald
3Stephen Cheeks, Darnell Cheeks, Alice Richell Cheeks-Zutant,
4and Wardene Stewart; his grandchildren; his
5great-grandchildren; his great-great-grandchildren; and a host
6of nieces and nephews who affectionately called him "Uncle
7A.D."; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we mourn the passing of Albert Davis Cheeks, and extend our
11sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
12and loved him; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Albert Cheeks as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
