HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to recognize Illinois State
4Representative Dennis Reboletti for his 8 years of service and
5hard work on behalf of the people of the State of Illinois; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Representative Reboletti, a life-long resident of
7Elmhurst, has had a distinguished career in public service; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Representative Reboletti is a 1986 graduate of
9York Community High School and earned his bachelor's degree in
10political science at Eastern Illinois University in 1990; after
11serving as a Deputy Addison Township Assessor, he decided to
12attend law school and was admitted to the Valparaiso University
13College of Law; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Upon his graduation from law school,
15Representative Reboletti was appointed an Assistant Attorney
16General under then-Illinois Attorney General Jim Ryan and was
17responsible for defending the Illinois Department of
18Corrections from inmate lawsuits; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Representative Reboletti later served as an
20Assistant State's Attorney in Will County for 8 years,
21prosecuting violent criminals as a member of the office's

1Organized Crime Unit, where he earned membership in Illinois'
2elite Capital Trial Litigation Bar; and
 
3    WHEREAS, In the spring of 1997, while still in his third
4year of law school, Representative Reboletti launched a
5write-in campaign and was elected as a 2nd Ward Alderman in the
6City of Elmhurst, later serving as Vice-Chairman of the
7Development, Planning, and Zoning Committee; in 2000, he was
8appointed as a Trustee to the Addison Township Board and was
9elected and re-elected in 2001 and 2005; as a Township Trustee,
10he served as Chairman of the Finance Committee and also of the
11Airport Issues Committee; he was the Board's Senior Trustee
12upon his election to the House of Representatives; and
 
13    WHEREAS, After being elected to the Illinois House of
14Representatives in 2007, Representative Reboletti quickly
15caught the attention of House Leadership and was assigned to
16the prestigious Transportation and Motor Vehicles, Mass
17Transit, and Judiciary II Committees; he has also since served
18on the Health Care Availability and Accessibility, Public
19Utilities, and Transportation: Regulation, Roads & Bridges
20Committees and as Republican Spokesperson for the Judiciary II
21Committee; he also took on additional responsibilities as the
22Republican Spokesperson on the Restorative Justice Committee
23and as the sole Republican on the Criminal Procedure &
24Penalties Sub-Committee; and

1    WHEREAS, Representative Reboletti worked in many prominent
2leadership roles during his career in the House of
3Representatives, including serving as floor leader of the House
4Republican Caucus, where he regularly raised the level of the
5debate on many critical issues that arrived on the floor of the
6House; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Representative Reboletti was chosen by his
8colleagues to serve on the House Republican leadership team as
9Assistant Minority Leader, where his experience helped shape
10major public policy initiatives to address serious State
11issues; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Representative Reboletti is an accomplished
13lawmaker who has worked to strengthen and protect Illinois
14families and communities, having written and passed a law to
15create the country's first of its kind murder registry, also
16known as Andrea's Law, to alert people to when a person who has
17committed first-degree murder was returning back to their
18communities; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Representative Reboletti worked closely with
20Representative Mike McAuliffe to protect families living near
21O'Hare Airport from excessive jet noise; and

1    WHEREAS, In addition to practicing law, Representative
2Reboletti continues to educate prospective law enforcement
3officers as an Adjunct Instructor in Triton Community College's
4Criminal Justice Department; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Representative Reboletti attends Mary Queen of
6Heaven Parish in Elmhurst; he is a member of the Addison and
7York Township Republican Committeeman's Organizations, as well
8as the Justinian Society of Lawyers; he enjoys spending time
9with his 13-year old son, Zachary; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12we congratulate our friend and colleague, Representative
13Dennis Reboletti, on his retirement from the Illinois of House
14of Representatives and wish him the best in his future
15endeavors; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to Representative Reboletti as a symbol of our
18respect and esteem.
